On a training journey in the  Bayankala Mountain Range  in the  Qinghai Province  of China,  Ranma Saotome  and his father  Genma fall into the cursed springs at Jusenkyo  ( 呪泉郷 ) . When someone falls into a cursed spring, they take the physical form of whatever drowned there hundreds or thousands of years ago whenever they come into contact with cold water. The curse will revert when exposed to hot water until their next cold water exposure. Genma fell into the spring of a drowned panda while Ranma fell into the spring of a drowned girl. Ranma's prospective paramours include the martial arts rhythmic gymnastics champion  Kodachi Kuno , and his second fiancée and childhood friend  Ukyo Kuonji  the  okonomiyaki vendor, along with the Chinese  Amazon Shampoo , supported by her great-grandmother  Cologne . The series follows Umaru Doma, a high school girl who lives with her older brother Taihei. At school, Umaru appears to be the ideal student with good looks, top grades, and a lot of talent. Once she gets home, however, she reverts into a layabout who spends her time lying around, playing video games, and constantly depending on her older brother, much to his dismay. Over the course of the series, Umaru's alternative personalities help her become friends with her female classmates Kirie Motoba, who has a reputation of glaring at people; and Sylphynford Tachibana, a competitive school rival; both of whom turn out to be little sisters of Taihei's coworkers. When Max rubs a lightning-marked stone and the Triceratops card, the card turns into a real Triceratops. When he rubs it again, it turns back into a card.
